It’s playtime and Dad’s here! To JC (Dad’s affectionate name for Justin), Dad is buddy, pal, wrestling partner…He’s also the one who allows him to be a typical little boy.  When Justin hears, “Dad is here,” he’s literally in heaven because he knows that he can do what he wants, when he wants and for as long as he wants. Autism? Blindness? What is that? There is no disability when Justin spends time with his Dad. The wrestling, laughing, and hugging are all Justin knows. The two have developed these little signals and signs that only the two of them know. Justin has learned that when Dad comes, it is indeed playtime and this gives Mom the time she needs to run errands. There have been times when I thought Justin wasn’t feeling well before Dad came.  However, the moment Dad arrives those thoughts go out the window! Having one-on-one time with Dad gives him a sense of peace. Perhaps for Justin this time with Dad is his mobility lessons, PE lessons, gymnastics etc. When he’s playing with Dad, I’m sure Justin is happy he doesn’t have to listen to Mom constantly saying, “No, Justin!  Stop, Justin! Get down, Justin!”  For Justin, all that matters is Dad is here and its playtime!

God fearing, loving mother to an awesome young man. Enjoying what I do! Although I’m not the greatest teacher, however raising a child with special needs has given me more degrees than any college university you could think of.
