You may be thinking of days by the pool, spending time at the beach, vacationing or just relaxing. This is what most would be doing in the summer, but not in Justin’s world. In our household there will be lots of trips to the bathroom, hand washing and washing soiled underwear. After having his last IEP meeting before school was out, one of the goals was to have Justin fully trained to wear big boy pants during the day.  I won’t push my luck for nighttime training but will certainly be busy to have him ready for August.

I’ve read my share of tips on potting training but none compares to training a special needs child. It took Justin nine years to grasp the concept of going when taking to the potty. HUGE MILESTONE! Another goal for Justin is to have him not only to stay dry in his big boy pants; but to also be able to go to the bathroom on his own. It will take a lot of determination, hard work, patience; as well as believing that Justin can accomplish this goal.

During our trial and error I will keep you all posted on the progress. Any suggestions that you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Happy summer!  5602b50679e3970c50af1b42653aaffd
